He got his PhD degree from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Leipzig University, Germany. Dr. Abdel Fattah is currently appointed as an assistant professor of infectious diseases in Animal Medicine Department, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Benha University, Egypt. He is interested in different pathogens inducing abortive disease in livestock. He got two post doctor fellowships, 3 and 6 months, from Human Protection Consumer Institute, Germany, for evaluation of multiplex real-time PCR for detection and diagnosis of Brucella, Leptospira, and Campylobacter spp., in addition to diagnosis and molecular analysis of sheep pox and ORF viruses isolated from Egypt. In his third post Doctor Fellowship (7 months) at The Q fever Unit of Anses Sophia Antipolis laboratory, the French National Reference Laboratory (FNRL) and OIE Reference Laboratory (ORL), got a great experience on the zoonotic and abortive disease “Q fever†in animals caused by Coxiella burnetii, an intracellular bacterium, and its isolation (Embryonated Hen Egg and mice inoculation); propagation (inoculation of cell cultures); purification; molecular detection (qPCR); and genotyping (using MLVA and MST methods). Recently, he is the leading PI of an international cooperation project between Egypt and France (Imhotep Program), for studying the prevalence and molecular detection and characterization of C. burnetii among ruminants in Egypt. And PI of another national project on serological and molecular diagnosis of bovine leukosis in dairy cattle
