Geochemistry of natural waters, contamination of groundwater with poisonous substances (eg. arsenic) and mitigation of those consequences, dynamics of human waste deposits (e.g. mine tailings, acid mine drainage) , Analysis of minerals, mineral surfaces and rocks concerning trace elements using a variety of analytical techniques: XRF, XRD, ICP-MS and LA ICP-MS , Distribution of trace elements in marine sediments in order to reconstruct past seawater chemistry, decomposition- and erosionprocesses, changes in seawater circulation , Biogeochemistry: Interaction between bacteria and clay minerals - Biomineralization: Formation of ore minerals and clay minerals by bacteria
