Biography :
Dr. Alejandro Calvo specializes in medical oncology and hematology with a particular interest in the management of thoracic and breast malignancies. He received his medical degree from UMSS, Faculty of Health Sciences in Bolivia and finished his Internal Medicine residency at Kettering Medical Center-WSU where he served as Chief Resident for an additional year. He completed an Oncology and Hematology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute where he was the Amgen Fellow of the year during his senior year. He is Board Certified in Medical Oncology since 2000, Hematology since 2004 and Hospice and Palliative Medicine since 2012. Dr. Calvo is a member of several medical committees and organizations as well as the author of multiple publications related to oncology and hematology. Dr. Calvo is key faculty at the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Kettering Medical Center and assistant clinical professor of medicine for Loma Linda University School of Medicine, KMC campus. Dr. Calvo was honored with the Albert Brust Award of Excellence in 1996. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and was the recipient of the 2009 and 2013 KMC Teacher of the Year Award, he has received the Patient Choice Award several times and is listed in the guide to America's Top Oncologists.
