Prof. Gustavo Ferreira Simões

Biography :

Graduated in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1990), master (1994) and doctor (2000) in Civil Engineering - Geotechnics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. He completed postdoctoral studies at Edinburgh Napier University, developing a project on the Study of Long-Term Emissions in Landfills. He is an associate professor at the Federal University of Minas Gerais and a board member of the Regional Nucleus of Minas Gerais and the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Association of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering. He has experience in Civil Engineering, with emphasis on Geotechnics, working mainly in the following subjects: sanitary landfills, urban solid waste, environmental geotechnics, experimental geotechnics, computational geotechnics and geotechnical monitoring
